Originally I was going to cram the whole stereotypical "loading weapons, preparing for epic battle" montage in one panel and get it out of the way.

Then my lazy gene took dominance.

Besides which, just like the shark in Jaws, I want there to be a payoff for when we finally see you-know-who...
